Winter solstice is the time of year that marks the turning point of the suns return when darkness yields to the gradual return of the light. As we move toward the shortest day and longest night, we honour the Goddess Edene who holds the quiet meditative stillness of winter darkness, before lighting lanterns, candles and our yuletide fire to celebrate the return of the light asking the Goddess for her blessing s as we embrace our hopes for the coming year with song dance and poetry.

Our ceremony begins at 2pm (14.00) at Airy Fairy on London Road see map link below.

Part of the ceremony will be outside so wrap up warm, bring a blanket which you will need for the meditation inside the Temple, and a clean jam jar to make your Solstice lantern.

Please use on street parking which is free on Sundays and is available around all surrounding streets, allow time to park before 2pm so you can arrive on time.

What to bring: A warm blanket, and a jam jar

There will be a lovely medieval winter spiced stew to warm you and mulled wine, alcoholic and non- alcoholic, available from Airy Fairy cafe

Important information This is Goddess Temple ceremony free to the public, but you will need to book as we are limited in space, we would appreciate a denotation as we are volunteer based and not for profit organisation. Our events are possible because of your generosity.

Important to Know:

Children are very welcome but always remain the responsibility of their parents or guardians. Please do not leave children unattended and be mindful that the length of the ceremony may feel long for some little ones. It’s completely okay if you need to step away quietly or leave early.

Winter ceremonies are both celebratory and a time to honour the quiet stillness of the land in winter, letting go and surrendering to the dark. The temple meditation is not suitable for young children, and you are invited to spend extra time in the garden with them to make lanterns, if this feels more appropriate.

All our events are ceremonies are possible due to your generous donations. Please bring cash donations on the day. This pays for the venue hire and items we need to make the experience wonderful for you. Recommend donation £5 although every little helps to support the temple.
